My informants in this case seemed anxious and alarmed lest the prayer of the Memorial should be granted. I informed them that the only case as yet tried since that 42 prisoners, and there being at least two hundred more, upon all of whom the same plea still presented, I was sure that nothing would be done with respect to the Memorial, but after the fullest consideration. If it be desired that further enquiry should take place, I'm perfectly ready to fill up the requisite information in it.

Case arising out of the late events. Dr. Aarlands is by far the likeliest to bring it forward. I have ascertained since the prosecution began that at least two Jurors had before the trial expressed their belief of Allum's innocence, and that one of them announced his resolution to do everything to get him off.
